Violet May Sanders Young
November 28, 1936 – September 9, 2024
Violet May Sanders Young passed peacefully, surrounded by her family & loved ones, on September 9th, 2024, in Dayton NV. She was a true daughter of Kenai, having been born there, as were her mother & her mother before her. Violet is a Kenaitze Tribal member and she was born on November 28,1936 to Victor Sanders & Katerine Wilson Sanders. Violet was 87 years old at the time of her passing. Violet is preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Mike Young. Mike & Violet traveled the country most of their marriage as Mike was a musician who was on the road often. Violet had 3 daughters & is survived by her daughter, Joangail Wilder, of Elko, NV her granddaughter Erica Violet Branson, of Lovelock NV, her great grandchildren, Lucy Joan Pitto, of Salt Lake City UT & Luke Branson of Reno NV. Violet is also survived by her 2 adopted daughters, who she raised as her own, from infants. Nada Moses of Dayton NV & Sierra Moses, Violets beloved grandaughter, were Violets caretakers at the end of her life & took loving care of her until the very end. The light of Violets life, tho, was her youngest daughter, Alice Marie Tietz of Seattle WA, who she lived with most of her life. Alice was the love of Violets life & they remained close thru out their lives. Violet is also survived by her sister Freda (the 2nd) in Homer AK & her nephews, Paul Karaffa Jr., John Consiel Jr. and many, many other relatives in Kenai. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Freda Sanders Mann, Victor Sanders Jr, Elsie Consiel Cresswell, Marie Coffel, Larry & Jimmy Sanders. Violet was treasured by her girls & she knew how much she was loved in her last days.
