DENA’INA WELLNESS CENTER NO-SHOW POLICY
One of our duties as a Tribe is to practice good stewardship of our resources. This has always included the air, land and water of Yaghanen, our traditional home. It also includes good access to and efficient management of the valuable services provided by the Tribe.
This policy is intended to reduce the impact of no-shows on Dena’ina Wellness Center operations, ensure that unfilled appointments are made available to others, and provide better access to health and wellness services for you.
Your care is a priority, and when you schedule an appointment, it is because your provider believes the service will be of benefit to your health and well-being. It is important to acknowledge that time scheduled for one un’ina is time that is not available to serve another.
-
A “no-show” is defined as any scheduled appointment in which an un’ina either does not arrive for the appointment, cancels or reschedules with inadequate notice, or arrives more than 10 minutes late and is subsequently unable to be seen.
-
An un’ina who no-shows for three scheduled appointments in a rolling 12-month period will not be able to schedule an appointment for that service for six months.
-
An un’ina who no-shows three times for physical, occupational or massage therapy, traditional healing, or structural integration services will need to get a new referral from their provider.
-
Once the six-month loss-of-scheduling-privileges period has passed, the 12-month period will refresh.
-
An un’ina who no-shows for a Behavioral Health appointment will be contacted after the first missed appointment. Behavioral Health staff will follow a specific procedure for subsequent missed appointments.
-
If a treating provider feels sufficient extenuating circumstances exist to make an exception for an un’ina who has had scheduling privileges suspended, the provider may raise this for consideration. Exceptions may be approved at the discretion of the Health Systems Director.
-
Un’ina may appeal a no-show determination to the Health Systems Director.
-
Walk-in services at the Dena’ina Wellness Center are available to all un’ina. Walk-in appointments are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
