Tribal Member Award nominations open

May 27, 2022

Nominations are being accepted for the Kenaitze Tribal Member of the Year Awards. Tribal Members, excluding current Tribal Council Members, may be nominated in the following categories:

Kenaitze Tribal Member Elder Recognition Award: Recognizes a Tribal Member who has shown dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and communities. This award is for recognition of Tribal Members who are 55 years of age and older. The individual is recognized as a leader, an educator and/or preserver of Native culture whose accomplishments and/or contributions have benefited Tribal Members or other Native peoples.

Kenaitze Tribal Member Legacy Award: Recognizes a Tribal Member who has shown dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and communities. This award is for recognition of all Tribal Members regardless of age and may include a Tribal Member who has passed on. The individual is recognized for his or her accomplishments and/or contributions that have benefited Tribal Members or Alaska Native peoples.

Kenaitze Tribal Member Youth Recognition Award: Recognizes a Tribal Member Youth who has shown dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and/or communities. This award is for recognition of Tribal Members who are 12 to 17 years of age. The individual is recognized for his or her superior academic achievements, demonstrated leadership qualities, dedication to Alaska Native culture and heritage, outstanding contributions to community and family and/or exceptional determination and stamina in overcoming significant life challenges.

Kenaitze Tribal Member(s) may be nominated as follows:

1. Complete and submit the Award Nomination form below. You may also download a PDF of the form.

2. Provide a detailed explanation and cite examples of the nominee’s efforts that support the respective award category that he or she is being nominated for.

3. Mail or email documents further illustrating the nominee’s efforts. These may include such items as news articles, copies of commendations and/or letters of support from persons who have worked with the nominee and/or benefited from his or her work.

4. Email the completed nomination form and relevant supporting documents to jcrump@kenaitze.org or mail to:
