Jessica Crump was sworn in as a Qiz’unch’ Tribal Court Judge in August 2023.
Judge Crump became interested in becoming a Judge when she worked as Tribal Court staff in 2015. With nearly a decade of service to the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, she views her appointment as a way for her to give back to her Tribal community. Her goal is to ensure that families are given the opportunity to be heard, to heal, and to grow as a unit and as individuals while fostering a Court environment that is grounded in transparency, integrity, empathy and a deep understanding and respect of each family’s unique journey.
Judge Crump holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Alaska Native Governance and a Certificate in Alaska Rural Management from Alaska Pacific University. Judge Crump is also working towards obtaining her Tribal Judicial Skills Certificate from the National Judicial College.
Her professional experience includes ten years of employment with the Kenaitze Indian Tribe where she has served in various capacities including support staff for the Tribal Court Code Committee, work as a program assistant for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, supervisor of Tribal Member Services and Tribal Enrollment Officer. Judge Crump also has experience in Behavioral Health and Tribal Governments.
Judge Crump finds the most rewarding aspect of her role is witnessing the transformation and growth of individuals and families as they work toward healing and become empowered to reach their fullest potential.
