Judge Jessica Crump
Jessica Crump was sworn in as a Qiz’unch’ Tribal Court Judge in August 2023.
Judge Crump became interested in becoming a Judge when she worked as Tribal Court staff. She views her appointment as a way for her to give back to her Tribal community. Her goal is to ensure that our families are given the opportunity to be heard, to heal, and to grow as a unit and as individuals with the appropriate support.
Judge Crump’s experience includes work at the Tribe’s Court Code Committee support staff, Court Appointed Special Advocate program assistant, education in Alaska Native Governance and Alaska Rural Management, and experience in behavioral Health. In addition, she has attended training at the Annual National American Indian Court Judges Association Conference and completed Child Welfare Training for Tribal Court Judges.
Judge Crump found it rewarding to have a Tribal Court participant express gratitude for the manner in which the court is conducted. The participant was thankful for the Judges’ calm demeanor, the safe and inviting space, and a process that put them at ease and encouraged them. They left with a positive attitude and a feeling of support from the Judges.
