Mikayla Hamlin, D.M.D.
Dentist
Dr. Hamlin provides general dentistry services for un’ina, “those who come to us,” at the Dena’ina Wellness Center.
Dr. Hamlin earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine with a Certificate in Public Health from the A.T. Still University Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in May 2023. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2016.
When she was 13, Dr. Hamlin was fascinated by the work of her orthodontist and was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry. She felt drawn to return to Alaska after dental school to work in public health and serve the people of her home state.
Dr. Hamlin is grateful to be able to help people better understand oral health and improve the health of the community. Her parents taught in several villages around Alaska. She was born in Huslia and feels her life has come full circle as she follows in her parents’ footsteps to serve the Alaska Native community.
When she’s not serving un’ina, Dr. Hamlin enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, soccer, camping, fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmachining. While in high school, she had the opportunity to participate in cross-country ski races in Sweden and Finland, an experience she counts among her personal highlights.
