Our Senior Companion Program matches trained volunteers over the age of 55 with fellow Elders who have physical, emotional or mental hindrances. Volunteers offer support to Elder recipients in a range of areas, assisting with day-to-day duties while forming a long-lasting, meaningful companionship. The program, launched in 2016, is administered through our Tyotkas Elder Center.
Volunteers are eligible to receive a stipend and must serve at least 15 hours per week. In addition to being at least 55 years old, they must meet income and other eligibility requirements. Volunteers go through a thorough training program before they are paired with recipients. Although volunteers may assist with daily tasks, the program focuses on creating emotional bonds between Elders.
Currently, we are accepting applications for both volunteers and recipients.
