The tribe’s suicide prevention program, Yinihugheltani, will host a beach walk to raise awareness around suicide and mental health. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10, at the tribal fishery site off Cannery Road in Kenai. Check-in opens at 1 p.m. and the walk begins at 2 p.m. The walk is a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. As part of the effort, participants can register online today and begin raising money. Those who raise $150 will receive an official event T-shirt. The registration website with full details is http://bit.ly/2uaXJc9. The event also will include an honor garden, where walkers can post photos of loved ones lost to suicide.
