Dena'ina Health Clinic
Introduction
Kenaitze Indian Tribe (KIT) through the Dena'ina Health Clinic (DHC) offers primary health and dental services to eligible Alaska Natives and American Indians. Specialty services not available at the Clinic are referred to Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) and with provider authorization referred to local providers. If your choice is local care, you will be financially responsible for all charges.
DHC is located in Kenai at 416 Frontage Rd, Suite 200. DHC is a storefront clinic and is wheelchair accessible, houses a dental office, medical clinic with examination rooms, laboratory and digitized radiology services and several prevention programs.

Prevention programs
Colorectal Cancer Screening grant funded by HRSA, providing patients with sigmoidoscopy services and education
Diabetes Prevention Program grant funded through IHS/SDPI/DPP, providing eligible participants with lifestyle change education, support and exercise to prevent diabetes
Diabetes Wellness Gathering grant funded by IHS/SDPI, promoting wellness and self-care for patients with diabetes
Early & Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program providing well-child checkups from birth through teenage
Tele-Behavioral Health grant funded through API, providing Child Psychiatry services to patients referred by Nakenu Family Center
Tobacco Cessation to tobacco users of all ages, providing individual counseling, quit plan creation and NRTs when appropriate
Contract Health Services
- Emergency Room (ER) Service for Kenaitze Tribal Members residing within our Service Area. Requires a telephone notice to the Clinic within 72 hours of being seen in the ER. Non-emergency conditions, according to Federal Regulations, may not be paid.
- Maternity Services are available through contract with Dr. Nels Anderson.
- College Students must provide proof of full time registration.
Important To All
Kenaitze Indian Tribe (KIT) / Dena'ina Health Clinic (DHC) is not an insurance program. By law, KIT / DHC Contract Health Service Program is the payer of last resort. This means if you are eligible for other health care coverage, other payers must be billed before KIT / DHC. Other payers include: Medicare, Medicaid / Denali Kid Care and Private Insurance. Patients not providing eligibility proof will be billed for the full amount of services received at DHC.
ELIGIBILITY
Who is eligible for Indian Health Service at the clinic? A beneficiary with documented proof of eligibility on file at the Dena'ina Health Clinic.
Acceptable proof is:
- Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB), or
- Tribal / Village Enrollment , or
- BIA issued letter of descendency from a Federally Recognized Tribe.
RESPONSIBILITIES
TO INSURE YOU OBTAIN THE BEST RESULTS FROM YOUR CARE YOU HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO:
- Report any changes in your health to your provider
- Follow your health care provider instructions
- Understand that if you refuse treatment or do not follow your provider instructions, you are responsible for the outcome and will be responsible for the cost of your care.
