The Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Career and Education Programs offers full range of services designed to strengthen village economic well-being. These services obtain this level of well-being by creating jobs, skill education and training to achieve financial self-sufficiency. Funding for these various program come from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Dept. of Labor, and Dept. of Education. To qualify for funding you must be Alaska Native and or American Indian (other eligibility requirements apply to individual programs).
Grants are based on available funds and students actual need that is assessed by results of the Student Air Report (SAR). Also, students are required to file for Federal Financial Aid and Free Application for Federal Student Air (FAFSA). Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher to remain eligible for funding. If a student fails to do so he/she will be placed on academic probation until the eligibility requirements have once again been satisfied. Funds are available for graduate students on a limited basis.
Higher Education assists Kenaitze and Salamatof individual who are enroll or accepted in a four-year program at a college or university in Alaska or in the lower 48.

This fund has the same requirements as the Higher Education Program, but will assist high school and college bound students. Recipients of this scholarship will pay back one-half o the funds either in a dollar amount, or in hours of volunteer time. Also Scholarships awarded will have a cap of $300.00, in which could increase if more money becomes available.

This program provides financial assistance for eligible students who need more skill to upgrade for employment. Eligible time for this program is 24 or 36 months and based on need for training. Students can attend accredited college or vocational training institution in or out of the State of Alaska.

Allows clients assistance who have gained employment, with work clothes and basic needs until the first paycheck arrives.

The HUD program has allocated funds to assist Kenaitze and Salamatof students housing expenses while attending school full time. This includes dorm or rental expenses. Eligibility requirements apply.

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe contracts with the US Dept. of Labor to provide services through the (WIA) program. The tribe offers funds for vocational and On-The-Job Training where the tribe and potential employers share the costs. Employment and Training can provide assistance with resumes, conduct job referrals, career assessments, job listing and job search skill.
